Procedure: Overview

If during diagnosis by TestBook, the DTC P1317 is retrieved:





1. Record DTC on DTCR, complete with freeze frame data, and FAX to LRNA at (301) 731-9814.

2. A freeze frame vehicle speed of 0 mph would suggest the fault was set during power-up/start-up.

3. Check the wiring and connections between ECM connector C1017 terminal 1 and ABS ECM connector C0284 terminal 29. Pay particular attention to C1026 terminal 8 in the middle of the circuit.

If no problem was found in the above check, it will be necessary to update the ECM with PROM set PRM 9631. Before updating, check the tune number by using TestBook. If the tune number is 9631, the update has already been performed and the fault must be with the wiring/connections described above.

Follow the instructions below to replace the PROM set. This PROM set contains revised diagnostic software which will prevent the fault from reoccurring.
