ISSUE 3: All
SITUATION:
ISSUE 1:
SILL BUTTON IS TOO LOW TO CONVENIENTLY OPERATE FROM INSIDE OF VEHICLE (The information in this TIB supplements TIB 76/14/97/NAS)
When the door is locked, it is difficult to grasp the sill button to manually unlock the door.
ISSUE 2:
FRONT INTERIOR HANDLE HAS STICKY OR NOISY OPERATION
An anti-rattle clip within the door structure is fitted with some anti-rattle foam. This foam interferes with the operation of the interior release handle and has been known to cause a squeaking sound during interior release handle operation.
ISSUE 3:
SILL BUTTON BOUNCE
(The information in this TIB supplements TIB 76/01/97/NAS)
While trying to unlock the vehicle with the alarm remote, the vehicle may unlock, but immediately relock. In addition, one or more doors may not completely unlock. This is due to improper positioning of the Central Door Locking (CDL) actuator on the affected door(s).
RESOLUTION:
ISSUE 1:
REPOSITION SILL BUTTON HEIGHT TO REVISED SPECIFICATION.
Raising the setting of the sill button position will offer more of the button to be grasped when manually unlocking the door from the inside.
ISSUE 2:
LOOSEN ANTI-RATTLE CLIP AND LUBRICATE FOAM.
By loosening the anti-rattle clip the interior link rod will move more freely through the clip. In addition, the lubrication will ease link rod movement and eliminate any squeaks caused by the link rod passing through the clip.
ISSUE 3:
REPOSITION FRONT DOOR CDL ACTUATOR.
If the actuator is located too close to the door latch, it will not fully actuate the unlocking mechanism and the latch will return to the locked position after trying to unlock the vehicle by alarm remote. By repositioning the actuator further from the door latch, the problem will be remedied.
NOTE:
The repairs outlined in this TIB are to be performed to resolve customer complaint of the symptoms described.
