Driver Side
WARNING: All the air bag system components, including the wiring harness, MUST be renewed after the airbags have deployed.NOTE: If air bag module is to be replaced the serial numbers must be recorded.
REMOVE
1. Turn steering wheel 90° from horizontal.
2. Switch off ignition.
3. Disconnect battery negative '-' and then the positive '+' lead.
CAUTION: Always disconnect both leads.
Under Dash Panel:
4. Release 2 turnbuckles and remove dash lower panel.
Air Bag Harness Connector:
5. Disconnect air bag harness connector from column harness.
Air Bag Module Mounting Screws:
6. Use special socket, remove 2 tamper-proof Resistorx screws securing air bag module to steering wheel. Discard screws.
7. Release air bag module from steering wheel.
CAUTION: Do not allow the air bag module to hang by the air bag harness.
Air Bag Module Connector:
8. Disconnect harness connector from air bag module.
9. Remove air bag module.
CAUTION:
- Store the air bag module in accordance with the storage procedures. Storage
- If air bag module is to be replaced the serial numbers must be recorded.
REFIT
1. Reverse removal procedure.
2. Connect harness connector to air bag module with harness downwards (as shown at 8).
3. Use special socket, fit new tamper-proof Resistorx screws to secure air bag module to steering wheel and tighten to 8Nm.
CAUTION: Take care not to cross thread screws.
4. Check supplementary restraint system using TestBook *.
