Header Junction Connector Replacement

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
DISCOVERY (LJ) All

SITUATION:

HEADER JUNCTION CORROSION OR PHYSICAL DAMAGE

Wiring harness repairs at Discovery vehicle header junctions connectors are now possible with the introduction of header junction replacement kits. The kits contain the connector housing and wire end pin terminals.

RESOLUTION:

REPLACE HEADER JUNCTIONS USING NEW KITS

In the event of corrosion damage or other physical degradation of the header junction, use of a correctly color-coded kit may permit effective repairs.

Repairs to damaged Header Junction connectors near the HVAC intake should be made in conjunction with the water leak repairs outlined in TIB 80/01/97/NAS.

CAUTION:
Ensure that the new replacement header junction is the same color as the old one being replaced.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

CHANGE CORRODED OR DAMAGED HEADER JUNCTION





1. Identify and tag each wire lead with pin number

2. When all leads are identified, cut wire harness as close to junction connector as possible.

3. Strip wire ends and crimp new wire terminals to each lead.

4. Carefully insert newly installed terminals into correct pin location of new junction connector.

CAUTION:
Do not apply any areas other than LRNA supported protective areas (LRNA201325).

5. Apply protective grease to each pin location on connector.

6. Install junction header cover and verify function of systems associated with new header junction.
