FUEL FILTER

On its way to the engine, gasoline pumped from the tank passes through a replaceable fuel filter. Because of the close internal tolerances of the injector, thorough filtration of fuel is required. The filter element is able to trap particles down to 20 microns in size.

The fuel filter on Land Rover vehicles is mounted on the chassis, near the passenger-side rear wheel arch. An arrow on the filter body indicates the direction of fuel flow.

The fuel filter is a simple component that is commonly overlooked as a source of fuel system concerns. Check for proper system pressure at the fuel rail before disassembling the fuel rail or injectors in search of an obstruction.
