The following process should be used in order to resolve the problem:

1. Misfire general checks

2. Reluctor/Crankshaft sensor checks

3. Valve stick diagnosis

Refer to the OPERATION PRIDE document for Complete description of checks.

PARTS INFORMATION

ERR7027* - Exhaust valve - (qty. 8)

ERR1782 - Valve stem seals - (qty. 16)

ERR2944 - Cylinder head bolt - (qty. 6)

ERR2943 - Cylinder head bolt - (qty. 13)

STC2822 - Cylinder head gasket set

* Order procedure for the exhaust valves must be followed according to e-mail Product 12-96/01.

PROCEDURE

TESTBOOK

1. Hook up TestBook and follow directions to retrieve fault codes in line with Service Bulletin W96-007.

2. Complete a DTCR and fax to LRNA (301)-731-9814.

3. Follow diagnostic directions from TestBook in order to locate problem.

4. If Test Book tests do no resolve the problem, the following diagnostics should be carried out.

19.22.96 - TestBook hook-up, Access codes, complete DTCR and diagnostic drive cycle per bulletin W96-007 - 1.25 hrs.

18.20.89/26 - Check ignition - 0.55 hr.

12.53.89/28 - Check reluctor ring - 0.55 hr.

12.29.89/35 - Diagnose valve stick - 1.95 hrs.

12.29.89/39 - Diagnose & valve replace - 11.5 hrs
Range Rover/11.65 hrs. Discovery

12.29.89/40 - Head R & R and Sublet (includes valve stick diagnosis) - 7.50 hrs. Range Rover/7.65 hrs. Discovery
