EAS Compressor Noise

SITUATION:
ELECTRONIC AIR SUSPENSION NOISE
A customer may complain of a droning noise from the front left corner of the vehicle. The EAS compressor may be the source of this noise. Compressor noise can be the result of worn or deteriorated rubber mounts.
RESOLUTION:
REPLACE MOUNTS WITH NEW SPECIFICATION PARTS
Modified compressor mounts (RVL100000, RVL100010) have been developed, and have been factory installed in all vehicles after the above VIN.
^ The new mounts can be fitted without additional modification to vehicles produced between WA398798 and XA420550.
^ For vehicles produced before WA398798 a modified bracket (RQU100100) provides increased thread length required by the new rubber mounts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
When removing the EAS compressor, retain the three mounting nuts and dished washers, noting their original orientation.
1. Refer to WSM 60.50.10 and remove EAS compressor (Figure 1).
NOTE:
For vehicles produced between WA398798 and XA420550 skip step 2, as the modified bracket is already installed.
2. If vehicle was produced before VIN WA398798 perform the following steps:
^ Remove the compressor mounting bracket (Figure 2).
^ Install new specification bracket.
^ Temporarily place compressor in position.
^ Adjust bracket alignment.
^ Hold the bracket in a stress free position.
^ Tighten bracket mounting hardware.
^ Place compressor aside.
^ Install nylon spacer (RVL100040) on bracket stud (Figure 2).
^ Place flat washer (RVL100030) on top of nylon spacer (Figure 2).
3. Remove the two lower front dished washers from the distribution box.
4. Install two flat washers (RVL100030) on the distribution box in the location of the removed dished washers.
5. Push the three old mounts out from the compressor assembly.
6. Install the two new specification front mounts (RVL100000) (Figure 3).
7. Install the new specification rear mount (RVL100010).
8. Verify that the three mounts are installed in the correct orientation (Figure 4).
NOTE:
Before installing the compressor, verify that the mounts are centered on the studs and the original nuts and dished washers are ready to install in the same orientation in which they were removed.
9. Refer to WSM 60.50.10 and install the compressor.
10. Install the original dished washers and nuts to each mount.
CAUTION:
If mount retaining nuts are tightened to greater than 2 Nm (18 lbf. in.) damage to mounts, may occur.
11. Tighten the nuts to 2 Nm (18 lbf. in.).
