Procedure

Refer to the Workshop Manual section 76 and perform the following:

1. Remove glovebox.

2. Remove two screws retaining gas strut to the rear of the glovebox (retain screws to secure new part).

3. Remove coffer pin and washer from clevis pin holding gas strut to glovebox liner.

4. Discard clevis pin, coffer pin, washer, and old gas strut.

5. Install new strut assembly including bracket as follows:

^ Secure the glovebox liner end of the new strut assembly with the new clevis pin.





^ Install fiber washer and push-on clip onto the new clevis pin (Figure 1).

^ Screw bracket onto the back of the glovebox using screws retained from item 1.

6. Refit glovebox assembly.

7. Perform glovebox lid alignment to achieve a uniform 3 mm gap around glovebox lid as follows:

^ Close glovebox lid.

^ Slacken left and right hinge adjusters.

^ Hand tighten hinge securing bolts.

^ Rotate outboard hinge adjuster to achieve parallel condition at end face.

^ Rotate inboard hinge adjuster to achieve parallel condition at lid edge to wood trim.

^ Fully secure four hinge screws.

^ Loosen the four upper rail fasteners.

^ Attempt to latch glovebox lid.

^ Position latch adjuster as required to achieve correct closing quality standard and alignment.

^ Tighten four upper rail screws.
