To reduce the effort required to open the rear doors from the outside, a redesigned door latch and handle have been introduced starting at VIN 350710. To address Customer complaints, a new latch and handle can be fitted to vehicles prior to VIN 350710 by following the procedure below.
The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed in this bulletin were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way OPERATION PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint for the symptoms outlined, perform the specialized repairs.

PROCEDURE
Perform the diagnostic procedures and repairs outlined for the repair of Rear Door Handle Loads.

Replace 1 latch and handle
76.37.89/28 - Time: 1.6 hrs.
Replace both latches and handles
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove the outside door handle to determine if the latest latch is fitted.
^ Remove the Torx(R) screw securing the rear of the handle.
^ Slide the handle forward to release it from the door and pivot the rear end outward to expose the linkage.
2. If the handle is connected to the latch with a white plastic link, the latest parts are fitted. Reassemble and take no further action (figure 1).
3. If the handle has a black lever, remove and discard it. The handle can be removed by pivoting it outward until it can be freed from the front mounting point (figure 1).
4. Remove the door casing.
^ Remove the inside release handle escutcheon (1 screw).
^ Remove the 2 screws securing the pull handle.
^ Using a door panel fork, gently release the 11 fir tree clips.
^ Disconnect the upper door speaker connector.
Note:
Some fir tree clips may pull off the door casing and remain in the door. Remove these clips from the door and reattach to the door casing. Replace any damaged clips.
5. Remove the water curtain.
^ Remove the lower door speaker.
^ Remove the amplifier from the door.
^ Carefully pull water curtain off the door by the adhesive edges.
! Use extreme care not to tear the water curtain! Repair small tears in the water curtain with waterproof tape. Replace the water curtain if damaged
6. Lower the window to allow access to glass channel spring clips as shown in figure 2.
7. Disconnect the door harness.
^ Release the 5 harness clips from the window lift panel.
^ Disconnect the window switch, window motor, and the door latch.
8. Remove the window lift panel.
^ Remove the 3 door latch screws.
^ Remove the 2 glass channel spring clips (figure 2). while supporting the glass, free the lifter arms from the glass channel slides by prying gently with a screwdriver.
^ Slide the window closed and secure into position using tape.
^ Drill out and remove the 4 rivets securing the window lift panel to the door.
^ Remove the window lift panel and door latch as an assembly.
9. Remove the door latch from the window lift panel.
^ Disconnect the interior release cable from the latch.
^ Remove the 2 plastic rivets securing latch to the window lift panel.
^ Maneuver the latch off the sill button linkage.
REASSEMBLY
1. Install latch on the window lift panel.
^ Maneuver latch onto sill button linkage.
^ Attach latch onto window lift panel using 2 plastic rivets (STC2756).
^ Attach interior release handle cable.
2. Install the window lift panel.
^ Place the window lift panel into position in the door and attach using 4 metal rivets (RA612157L).
^ Slide window down and snap lifter arms into glass channel slides.
^ Replace the glass channel spring clips.
^ Install the 3 latch screws.
3. Connect the window switch, window motor, and door latch.
4. Snap 5 harness clips into the window lift panel.
5. Install the outside door handle:
^ Slip the handle into the front mounting hole on the door and pivot the rear end inward.
^ Pull the white latch link out of the opening and snap the link onto the handle (figure 1).
^ Place the handle into position on the door and slide rearward to align bolt hole: install bolt
6. Test the operation of the following:
^ Power window
^ Latch
^ Interior and exterior releases
^ Sill button, both manually and with central locking
^ Child lock
7. Affix the water curtain to the door, sealing it carefully along the adhesive edges. Use strip caulk if additional adhesive is required.
8. Install the amplifier.
9. Install the lower door speaker.
11. Connect the upper door speaker.
12. Slip the sill button into door casing and align the 11 fir tree clips with their sockets. Tap casing into place.
13. Install the 2 pull handle screws.
14. Install the inside release handle escutcheon.
