SUBJECT

Range Rover Roof - Wind Noise At Drainage Holes

AFFECTED VEHICLES

DETAIL

To overcome inconsistent roof sealing at the point of vehicle manufacture a revised roof sealing process has been introduced in production and provides improved sealing of the roof at the front edge around the roof drainage holes.

A roof that has been inadequately sealed will exhibit wind noise from the roof around the drainage hole area where the two panels are spot welded together.

ACTION REQUIRED

If Customers identify a wind noise from the roof region, seal with the sealant identified in the parts information.

PARTS INFORMATION

Clear silicon sealant 737 supplied by Dow Coming Contact number, 1-800-248-2481

PROCEDURE

Squeeze a small quantity of sealant into a plastic container. Wearing disposable latex or plastic gloves wipe the sealant into the joint between the roof drainage hole panel and roof.

Excess sealant can be removed with a wet spatula or lint free cloth.

Observe all safety precautions as stated in the sealant manufacturers instructions.

NOTE:
The front edge of the roof is made up of three panels, lower panel which enables the roof to be bolted to the cantrail, centre section which is the roof panel itself and upper section which is the pressed roof gutter, these three panels are spot welded together. The specified area is in the location of the roof gutter outlet above the front windscreen. See area "A" on the illustration.
