SUBJECT: Serpentine Drive Belt

AFFECTED
VEHICLES: All Range Rover and Discovery V8 petrol derivatives from VIN LH 647645 and LJ 081991

DETAIL



A new front end drive drive belt belt system has been introduced from the above VIN numbers. The new system consists of a single serpentine belt which replaces the "multi" belt drive seen on previous models. This change also introduces a new front cover assembly including new oil pump, water pump and ZF power steering pump.

The serpentine belt is automatically tensioned and should not require adjustment during the course of its life.

ACTION REQUIRED

Check condition of drive belt at 24,000 mile (40,000 km) service intervals. Replace drive belt at 96,000 mile (160,000 Km) service intervals.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 10 and 12 for maintenance and removal instructions.
