Oil Pan Removal: Overview
1. Remove screw holding dipstick tube to valve cover.2. Working from the center outwards, progressively loosen and remove bolts securing oil pan (figure 2).
CAUTION:
Do not pry on oil pan to remove.
3. Remove oil pan.
4. Remove all traces of sealant from mating surfaces of oil pan, cylinder block, and front cover using a suitable solvent or plastic scraper.
5. If Range Rover, remove studs from front cover.
6. Clean all threads within the bottom surface of the front cover using compressed air. No oil must remain in the bolt holes.
