DETAIL
In the event of oil leakage from the oil pan seal area, use the following procedure to reseal the oil pan with the recommended elastomeric gasket maker.
The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed in this bulletin were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way OPERATION PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint for the symptoms outlined, perform the specified repairs.

LRNA25223 - Elastomeric Gasket Maker or
STC3811 - Hylomar Silicone sealant (Ivory 101)
If necessary:
UAM2857L - Range Rover joint washer - qty. 1
243968 - Discovery joint washer - qty. 1
Locally sourced items:
^ Cleaning Solvent - Aerosol Brake Clean
^ Engine Oil
^ Thread Sealant: Loctite(R) # 545 or # 567
NOTE:
Material allowance for using LRNA 25223 or STC3811 is to be $3.34 for each oil pan resealing operation (12.60.38) claim.
PROCEDURE
Perform the diagnostic procedures and repairs outlined in this bulletin for oil pan resealing.
PREPARATION
1. Drain engine oil.
2. Reinstall drain plug. Use a new joint (sealing) washer if necessary and tighten to:
^ 40 Nm (30 lbf. ft.) Discovery
^ 43 Nm (32 lbf.ft.) Range Rover
3. If a Range Rover vehicle, perform the following:
^ Position support under chassis front cross member (figure 1).
^ Lower lift to give clearance between front axle and sump.
