DETAIL
There may be difficulty when refuelling vehicles in the above VIN range at maximum gas pump rates. investigations have shown the cause to be the fuel tank breather pipe. In the original manufacturing process the breather pipe was supplied fitted onto the fuel filler and attached to the fuel tank during assembly. This can cause a twist in the breather pipe, reducing it's efficiency.
The process has been changed so that the breather pipe is supplied on the fuel tank, and then fitted to the fuel filler neck on production. This process change will reduce the possibility of the breather pipe becoming twisted.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint of difficulty when re-fuelling follow the process detailed below.

PROCEDURE
Refer to Workshop Manual section 19, "Filler neck assembly" page 21, 22 & "Fuel tank, pump and sender unit", page 22, 23 & 24.
Should any vehicles have a fuel fill rate problem, the fuel tank breather pipe should be replaced, and not the fuel tank or filler neck.
When replacing a fuel breather pipe ensure that the routing of the pipe is not obstructed, and there are no tight curves or kinks in the pipes.
