DETAIL

The sunroof drains on some Range Rovers may become restricted in the D-pillar area, causing water to leak through the interior light assembly. The following procedure should be used on both rear drain tubes to remedy this condition. Before removing the headliner, thoroughly wash hands to prevent soiling the headliner.

The diagnostic steps and repair procedures detailed on this bulletin were developed as an element of the Land Rover Way OPERATION PRIDE. This TIB provides a library location for PRIDE information within the Land Rover North America technical literature system.

HEADLINER REMOVAL

DRAIN MODIFICATION

1. Cut the sunroof drain hose 10" from the end of the sunroof drain spout.

2. Apply a thin coat of Kent Clear Seam Sealer inside the first 1/2" of the sunroof drain hose still attached to the sunroof drain spout.

3. Insert the rigid plastic pipe from the repair kit into the drain hose making sure that the drain hose is engaged at least 3/4" onto the pipe.

NOTE:

When assembling the pipe/drain hose, make sure that the wire harness is located between the pipe/drain hose and the roof/D-pillar (figure 1).

4. Position the sunroof section of the drain hose and pipe over the D-pillar (figure 1).

5. Position the other end of the drain hose so that it runs down the D-pillar.

6. Cut the D-pillar drain hose so that at least 3/4" can be inserted onto the drain pipe.

7. Apply Kent Clear Seam Sealer inside the first 1/2" of the D-pillar drain hose and attach the hose onto the drain pipe.

NOTE:
Position tie wrap locks so that they will point away from the headliner.

8. Install supplied tie wraps on each end of pipe drain junction. Trim excess tie wrap.

9. Place tape over rigid pipe to hold in place while the headliner is reinstalled. Make sure that the drain hose routes downhill from the sunroof, is not kinked, and is securely retained in clips.
