Window Regulator Improvements

SITUATION:
ISSUE 1: WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS TO OPEN OR CLOSE WINDOW, OR POPS DURING OPERATION
It has been found that the teeth of the window regulators may fail due to excessive load.
ISSUE 2:WINDOW GLASS CATCHES OR DRAGS
Some problems with window operation have been traced to excessive friction in the lower guide seal.
RESOLUTION:
ACTION 1: REVISED WINDOW REGULATOR
A new window regulator has been specified. This regulator has hardened drive teeth, which will prevent tooth failure. If upon customer complaint it is found that the window regulator teeth have been stripped, insure that the replacement window regulator has hardened teeth (introduced at supplier from date code 38B, 96 onwards).
ACTION 2: LUBRICATE LOWER GUIDE SEALS
Sparingly lubricate lower guide seal with Krytox (CYK100050) to eliminate dragging glass on the lower guide seal.
NOTE:
The repairs outlined in this TIB are to be performed to resolve customer complaint of the symptoms described.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
ACTION 1: REVISED WINDOW REGULATOR
1. Before installing the replacement regulator, check that the production date is after the safe date of 38B, 96 i.e. Monday, of week 38, 1996. Refer to Figure 1.
2. Replace window regulators following procedure as outlined in WSM, Section 76.
ACTION 2: LUBRICATE LOWER GUIDE SEAL
3. Carefully remove the door panel from the affected door.
4. With window up, note the position of the lower guide seal in the channel. Carefully remove lower guide seal from channel at leading edge of glass.
5.* Refer to Figure 2 and lubricate the guide seal sparingly with Krytox(R) (CYK100050).*
6. Reinstall lower guide seal in channel. Be sure that the guide seal is reinstalled in the same position.
7. Lightly wipe off any excess lubricant from the lower guide seal before continuing.
8. Open and close window glass completely and check to see if any excess lubricant is visible on the glass.
9. Clean off excess lubricant if necessary.
10. Install door panel.
