SITUATION:
CORROSION POTENTIAL FROM BODY ASSEMBLY BURR
Due to a tooling condition, a burr sometimes is formed on the panel edge. The burr suffers poor paint coverage and can become the starting location for corrosion.
RESOLUTION:
REMOVE THE BURR AND PROTECT THE PANEL EDGE
Where a complaint of corrosion at a tail door corner is confirmed, follow the rectification procedure in this TIB to protect the area from corrosion and correct the problem.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPAIR CORROSION AREA
1. Refer to RAVE Workshop Manual, section 76.31.67 and remove the tail door waist seal.
2. Remove the sharp corner ("A" in Figure 1) and burr ("B" in Figure 1) from the upper edge of tail door skin panel.
3. Paint bare metal with etch phosphate ("A" in Figure 2).
4. Re-paint repaired area with touch-up pen.
5. Allow the paint to dry.
6. Apply under body sealant to the repaired area. ("B" in Figure 2).
7. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the tail door.
8. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 76.31.67 and install the tail door waist seal.
