REPAIR PROCEDURE

CARE POINTS FOR WINDOW REGULATORS AND CONTROL UNITS

CAUTION:
Proper work procedures and handling practices must be maintained to avoid damage to regulator units during removal and/or repair troubleshooting. Particular attention should be paid to the following areas:

^ Regulators/motor bent "eye-piece" in the lower rear bracket ("A" in Figure 1)

^ Regulators/motor cable reassembled into the wrong "eye-piece" ("B" in Figure 1). This renders the regulator inoperative because the static tension in the cable has been released.

^ Motor connector damaged ("A" in Figure 2).

^ Bent cable support bracket ("B" in illustration 2) and motor base plate ("C" in Figure 2).

1. Refer to RAVE section 86.25.01 (3-door or 5-door) and follow procedures for removal and repair.

2. Observe the following additional care points:

^ Avoid damage to the motor base plate and the cable support bracket caused by careless handling of the regulators/motor and control units.

^ Disengage the release catch on the multi-plug before attempting to pull the connector apart.

^ Carry the regulator motor and control unit assemblies by the metal rails.

^ Avoid damage to the cable eye-piece (A in illustration 1) caused by pulling the part out of the box by the cable, carrying the part by the cable or holding the cable when installing the assembly into the door.
