SITUATION:
HARSH 2-3 SHIFT COMPLAINT
Customer may report a rough or jerky 2nd to 3rd gearshift under light (20-30%) throttle application, particularly when operating under heavily laden conditions, or on steep gradients.
RESOLUTION:
UPDATE TRANSMISSION ECU SOFTWARE
Using TestBook/T4 configuration disc DRGTC07Y or later, at the next service opportunity update the transmission software following the procedures in this TIB. The TestBook/T4 disc is distributed in association with this mailing.

WARRANTY CLAIMS:
H280 Time 0.40 hrs.
Confirm harsh shift symptoms and upgrade software
Normal warranty policy and procedures apply.
Material allowance is included in labor operation.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Connect Testbook/T4 to the vehicle with disc DRGTC07Y or later inserted.
2. Perform JATCO tune download to correct the harsh shift complaint as follows:
^ Access "Vehicle Configuration" and select "Auto Gearbox Checks and Renewals".
^ Select "NO" to hardware replacement and "YES" to tune download.
^ Press ONLY the "Select Fix" icon.
NOTE:
When the tune download is complete Testbook/T4 will prompt you to:
^ Turn the key off
^ Remove fuse 4 from the under hood fuse panel (This must be done within two seconds)
3. Turn off the ignition and within two seconds of turning the key off remove fuse 4.
4. Wait 15 seconds for the main relay to power down.
5. Replace the fuse, turn the key on, and finish out with Testbook/T4.
NOTE:
The illumination of the MIL light indicates that the transmission software download has been successfully completed.
6. Start the engine and verify that the MIL light ILLUMINATES.
7. If the MIL light does NOT illuminate, shut off the engine and remove fuse 4 within 2 seconds.
8. When the MIL light illuminates, use Testbook/T4 disc V003.5 or later to access Auto Gearbox and clear the "P1605" fault code.
INSTALL CAMPAIGN LABEL
NOTE:
Campaign labels may have multiple Campaign numbers written on them if multiple campaigns are performed at the same time.
1. When all specified repairs have been accomplished, prepare the campaign label (LRN0002LABEL) as follows:
a) Place the label on a hard surface.
b) Use a ballpoint pen to neatly write/scribe in the bare aluminum areas of the label the following information:
^ Service Action code "H280"
^ Your retailer code
^ The date of repair
2. Clean all grease and dirt from the radiator support member.
3. Peel the completed campaign label from the backing paper and position it on the cleaned area.
4. Roll the label with the special roller tool to ensure proper adhesion.
