Workshop Procedure to Remove/Install Rear Differential Front Mounting

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:

REVISED PROCEDURE DEVELOPED FOR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING REPAIRS

Situation:

This Technical Bulletin has been issued to inform Retailers of a change in the workshop procedure to remove/install the rear differential front mounting. The previous procedure removed the left-hand rear mounting to remove the front mounting. In the new procedure, the two long bolts from each rear mounting are removed. The differential is then repositioned allowing enough room to remove the front mounting.

Action:

Should it become necessary to remove the rear differential front mounting, please refer to the new procedure detailed in the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
Old Labor Time for replacing the front differential mounting bushing was Operation 51.15.43 and took 0.40 hours.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

Service Instruction

Remove

1. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

Raise vehicle on a four post lift.





2. Remove two bolts securing both rear differential mountings to sub-frame.

3. Remove two bolts securing front mounting to differential.





4. Remove bolt securing front mounting to sub-frame.

5. Ease differential away from front mounting and remove front mounting.

Install

6. Install front differential mounting.

7. Position centralising jig LRT-51-013 to align differential assembly.





8. Install bolt securing front mounting to sub-frame and tighten to 120 Nm (88.5 lbf ft).

9. Install bolts securing front mounting to differential and tighten to 65 Nm (48 lbf ft).

10. Install bolts securing rear mountings to sub-frame and tighten to 120 Nm (88.5 lbf ft).

11. Remove LRT-51-013.
