No: 76/06/05/NAS
FGN LN501
Ref:
Issue: 1
Date: 12 April 2005

Loose Bumper Stone Guard Grill

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Freelander (LN) All up through 2003 MY

SITUATION:

UNSECURED LOCATOR TABS PERMIT STONE GUARD GRILL MOVEMENT

A customer may notice that the front bumper stone guard grill appears to be loose in the upper LH and RH corners when pressure is applied - as when washing the vehicle. The locator tabs in this area of the grill were not "heat staked" and thus permit the movement. (Figure 1)

RESOLUTION:

INSTALL CLIPS TO SECURE GRILL

Upon customer complaint, install the retaining clips as described in this bulletin.

INSTALL RETAINING CLIPS ON BUMPER STONE GUARD MOUNTING TABS

NOTE:
GTR lookup sequence is as follows:
GTR Home > NAS > Service Information/ LN Freelander/2005 > Workshop Manuals > Service Procedures > Bookmark "EXTERIOR FITTINGS 76-2-1" > TOC "REPAIRS/Bumper Assembly Front - up to 04 MY" link

1. Refer to GTR Workshop Manual Section 76.22.72 and remove the front bumper.

CAUTION:

3. Install the new stone-guard retaining clips to the top-left and top-right bumper plastic locating tab. (Figure 3)

4. Verify the retaining clips are fully engaged to remove any possible movement of the stone guard.

5. Refer to GTR Workshop Manual Section 76.22.72 and install the repaired bumper onto the vehicle.
