Freelander Driveline Knock

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Freelander (LN) Up to 2A362366

SITUATION:

NOISE FROM UNDER VEHICLE WHEN TURNING

Customer complaints may arise on an early production Freelander of a knocking noise from under the vehicle on left or right turns.

RESOLUTION:

INSTALL NEW DRIVE SHAFT BEARING ASSEMBLIES

Inspection of the drive shaft bearing assemblies may reveal "soft" rubber support bearing material allowing the drive shaft to sit low in the bearing assemblies. Improvements have been made by the vendor to correct this condition after the safe VIN. If either of the bearing assemblies is affected by these symptoms, installation of new specification bearings will position the drive shaft in the proper location. This will eliminate the knocking noise when the root cause is the support bearing.

PARTS INFORMATION:

CAUTION:
The listing in the Freelander parts catalog is incorrect for the V6 variants. Order only the part listed below to obtain the proper replacement component

NOTE:
Inventory of the new component is limited. Only order to rectify a known problem.
