INSTALL REINFORCING CLIP AND REPLACE DAMAGED COMPONENTS
A special reinforcement clip can be placed on undamaged latch assemblies to correct the tendency of the plastic to distort under heavy loads.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REMOVAL OF RELEASE HANDLE
NOTE:
To remove the possibility of damage to the front seat backs, both front seats must be forward of the plane formed by the trailing edges of the B pillars!
1. Verify vehicle is affected by this action through DCS.
2. Move both front seats forward.
3. Release rear seat belts from buckles if engaged.
4. Access rear seat backs through rear end door.
5. If latch functions properly, unlatch both rear seats and fold seat back forward to the horizontal position.
6. If latch is broken, perform the following steps to unlatch the seat back:
^ Grasp and lift the "warning button" trim surround to remove from the seat back with damaged latch. (Figure 1)
^ Grasp the red exposed portion of the button.
^ Push backward on the seatback to relieve tension on the latch, and lift up on the button.
^ When the seatback releases, install the warning button trim.
NOTE:
The trim escutcheon will be damaged in the removal process and must be replaced.
7. Perform the following on each seat latch:
^ Remove latch trim escutcheon by prying out top outer corner first then subsequent corners.
^ Disengage lower latch release handle fasteners.
^ Push the handle assembly down into seat.
^ Maneuver the handle to permit removal from the seat back through the latch opening.
^ Release the cable end from the slot in the handle assembly.
NOTE:
If the seat latch release mechanism handle is damaged, it must be replaced. Contact the Land Rover HelpLine.
8. If latch lever hinge pins have separated from their sockets, manipulate pins back into their sockets.
9. Inspect handle assembly to verify that no irreparable damage has occurred and that cable end will be properly retained in the latch slot.
INSTALL REINFORCEMENT CLIP ON RELEASE HANDLE
1. Install cable-end ball into release handle assembly slot.
2. Position reinforcement clip in alignment with the release handle cable slot and push down until the tangs of the clip are fully engaged. (Figure 2)
3. Maneuver the latch assembly down into the seat back.
4. Locate top securing tab first.
5. Secure lower locating tabs to the seat back using two screwdrivers to lift the tabs over the seat back.
6. Install a new trim escutcheon as follows:
^ Slide the trim in from the bottom.
^ Secure the four locating pegs on the underside of the escutcheon into the latch housing.
^ Push escutcheon firmly home until fully secure.
7. Position seat back to latched position.
8. Verify correct function of rear seat release handle.
INSTALL SERVICE CAMPAIGN LABEL
NOTE:
Campaign labels may have multiple Campaign numbers written on them if multiple campaigns are performed at the same time.
1. Obtain a Recall label (LRN0002LABEL) and prepare as follows:
a) Place the label on a hard surface.
b) Use a ballpoint pen and neatly write in the bare aluminum areas of the label the following information:
^ Service Action campaign code "HU02"
^ Your retailer code
^ Date of repair
CAUTION:
Do not touch the exposed label adhesive with your fingers. The bond will be diminished if contaminated prior to application.
2. Clean all grease and dirt from an area of the radiator support member.
3. Peel the completed campaign label from the backing paper and position it on the cleaned area of the cross member.
4. Roll the label with the special roller tool to ensure that the adhesive makes continuous contact with the cross member surface.
