Footwell Air Distribution Improvement

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Freelander (LN) 3A222742 to 3A226777

SITUATION:

DIRECT VENTILATION PATH CAUSES DISCOMFORT

The ventilation system ducting on Freelander vehicles directs high volume air flow onto the drivers right foot at certain distribution settings that can become uncomfortably hot or cold.

RESOLUTION:

INSTALL DEFLECTOR TO DISTRIBUTE AIR FLOW

Upon customer complaint of excessive heat to the foot well, perform the corrective steps in this bulletin to ensure a more even distribution of HVAC system air.

Install deflector on ventilation ducting

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply.
Material allowance is included in labor operation.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

MODIFY AIR FLOW TO FOOTWELL

1. Locate the heater lower vent, situated on the driver's side adjacent to the diagnostic socket.





2. Cut and remove the heater flap situated inside the heater lower vent. (Arrowed in Figure 1).





3. Position the heater duct diverter, to the heater lower vent (A in Figure 2).

4. Insert the provided screw through the diverter and secure the diverter to cover the lower heater duct vent. (B in Figure 2)
