Rear Door Window Squeak

SITUATION:

REAR DOOR WINDOW SQUEAKS

The rear door windows may squeak during operation. The flip seal integrated in the rear door window frame seal can come in contact with the window, causing the noise. The squeak noise may be more evident in wet conditions.

RESOLUTION:

CORRECT WINDOW SEAL DIMENSIONS

Should a customer complain of a rear window squeak symptom, follow the rectification procedure in this bulletin to remove any excess material from the flip seal of the affected window.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply. Material allowance is included in labor operation.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSPECT WINDOW SEAL AND MODIFY IF REQUIRED

1. Lower the affected rear window.





2. Remove the rear door window frame seal from the bottom edge of the door aperture. (Arrowed in Figure 1)





3. Measure 480 mm (18-29/32 in) from the end of the flip seal. (Figure 2)

4. Carefully cut out the excess material from the end of the flip seal. (Figure 2)

5. Install the rear door window frame seal with the shortened flip seal into the window opening.

6. Raise and lower the rear window to verify the effectiveness of the repair.
