Intake Manifold Seal Replacement Method Change

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Freelander (LN)
3A222793 Onwards

SITUATION:

REVISED METHODS DEVELOPED TO REPLACE SEALS

NOTE:
Associated repairs that require the new workshop procedure will also change and experience associated time adjustments.

Methods engineers at Land Rover have recently studied the service process for removal and installation of the intake manifold seals for Freelander models. Changes have been introduced to the methods used for the manifold seal replacement.

^ Process steps to disconnect the electrical connectors to the coil packs - not required (not attached to the manifold).

^ The breather/vacuum pipes are now released from the manifold and not fully removed from the vehicle.

RESOLUTION:

FOLLOW NEW PROCEDURES FOR SEAL REPLACEMENT

The changed steps refine and improve the process which allow the operation to be carried out more efficiently. Should it become necessary to replace the intake manifold seals on a Freelander, please refer to the procedure detailed in this bulletin.

PARTS INFORMATION:

Parts as required for the repair.

DDW WARRANTY CLAIMS:

NOTE:
Repair procedures are under constant review, and therefore times are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.

NOTE:
Repair operations with original times - 30.15.37-1.20 hours and 30.15.38-1.50. The procedure change to 30.15.37 (Intake Manifold Seals) requires changes to 30.15.38 (Intake Manifold Chamber) for all derivatives of V6 Freelander VIN 222793 onwards. The intake manifold is supplied with everything other than a throttle housing. The old procedure has details to strip down the original intake manifold (removal of the variable intake system (VIS) power and balance motors, and the temperature/manifold absolute pressure (TMAP) sensor). This is no longer required.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

Normal warranty policy and procedures apply.
