Nav Computer Recovery Procedure

NOTE:
If a software or language load becomes corrupted because of a CD problem or some electrical or bus disturbance, which can occur occasionally, it usually takes effect after the CD has been ejected and the "OK" given. The incomplete software then does not start up.

NOTE:
If, during the recovery process described here, you see a message stating that the CD is damaged, then discard the CD, obtain a new one, and repeat the recovery procedure.

1. To recover a NAV computer that has been corrupted by a CD problem or electrical disturbance, perform the following:

^ Ensure there is not a CD in the navigation unit (press eject to ensure).

^ Disconnect T4, if still connected.

^ Remove the NAV computer from its support bracket.

^ Disconnect the power connectors to the NAV computer for 10 seconds.

^ After 10 seconds reconnect the power connectors and install the computer into the support bracket.

2. Insert the LRL0568 3rd Edition or a later version software CD and wait 10 to 15 seconds. CD activity should be heard.

3. Wait approximately 15 seconds for the screen to flash and then show the software loading announcement again.

NOTE:
Avoid opening or closing vehicle doors. The loading will usually complete in four minutes or less, and will automatically eject the CD, requesting you to take the CD out and press "OK" as usual.

CAUTION:
It is very important that the process is not interrupted during the upload. Buttons MUST NOT be pressed and the ignition MUST NOT be switched off, or system malfunction may occur.

4. When the software loading procedure is complete, observe the CD automatically eject.

5. Wait for the system to request you to remove the CD.

6. Remove the disk and press "OK".

7. Wait for the Satellite Navigation system to shut down and restart without interruption during the next minute or so.

NOTE:
Avoid opening or closing vehicle doors during the next step, as this will restart the shutdown timer each time. The red power LED on the NAV computer will go out when the power down process is completed.

8. When the Satellite Navigation system has restarted and the main menu screen has returned (both on-road and off-road navigation options are available), perform the following:

^ Verify that the tailgate is open.

^ Switch off the ignition.

^ Remove the ignition key.

^ Allow approximately 60 seconds for the Satellite Navigation system computer to shut down and the red power LED to go out).

9. Switch on the ignition, and check that the Satellite Navigation system powers up correctly with the Land Rover logo and the Main Menu.

10. Re-insert the map CD into the Navigation computer

11. At the main menu check that both on-road and off-road navigation options are available.

12. Switch off the ignition.

13. Install the trim panel in the left-hand side of the luggage compartment.
