Language Change Procedure
NOTE:The Satellite Navigation system can store two languages. The default language condition from vehicle production is UK English Female and German Female. You can swap between the two stored languages using the language menu item in the SET menu. Changing languages is done in a very similar way to a software update. The difference is that new languages must first be specified.
1. Connect T4 to the vehicle to load other languages from the NAV software CD.
2. Load disc "Range Rover 17" or a later version to T4 and begin a new diagnostic session.
3. Prepare the vehicle for software update as follows:
^ Apply the handbrake.
^ Start the engine and ensure it remains running until the installation procedure is complete.
^ Verify that the radio/audio system is switched off (press the left hand rotary button if necessary).
^ Switch off all other electrical loads, including the air conditioning, heated seats etc.
CAUTION:
Switching off the ignition during the software loading procedure can cause navigation computer failure.
4. Open the tailgate, and remove the trim panel on the left hand side of the luggage compartment to reveal the Satellite Navigation computer.
5. Eject the Map CD (if present) from the navigation computer.
6. Follow the T4 on-screen instructions and perform the following:
^ Select "Diagnostic System".
^ Select "Vehicle Maintenance".
^ Select "Navigation Language".
^ Follow the T4 instructions to select languages.
7. When T4 has been used to specify the new languages wait for the navigation screen on the vehicle to blank out for several seconds, flash, and then show a message in small red text stating that a software CD is required.
NOTE:
If this step is reached and LRL0568 3rd Edtion or a later version software CD is missing, damaged or otherwise unusable; it is possible to re-set the navigation computer to its initial state using the new restore facility on T4 disc Range Rover 17 or a later version.
8. If required because of a damaged or missing NAV software disc restore the NAV computer as follows:
^ From the "Vehicle Maintenance" screen select "Restore Language".
^ Follow the on-screen instructions and select "Restore" when prompted.
^ Power down Satellite Navigation as prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.
9. To reprogram the language to the selected languages, perform the following:
^ Insert the NAV software installation CD LRL0568 3rd Edition or a later version into the Satellite Navigation computer.
^ Observe the system perform the automatic software load.
a) The screen will alternately darken and lighten for up to 20 seconds.
b) The screen may flicker or display small red text before a message comes up warning that software will be loaded,
c) A bar graph will appear showing progress.
d) The software update process will take several minutes.
CAUTION:
It is very important that the process is not interrupted during the upload. Buttons MUST NOT be pressed and the ignition MUST NOT be switched off, or system malfunction may occur.
^ When the software loading procedure is complete, observe the CD automatically eject.
^ Wait for the system to request you to remove the CD.
^ Remove the disk and press "OK".
^ Wait for the Satellite Navigation system to shut down and restart during the next minute or so.
NOTE:
Avoid opening or closing vehicle doors during the next step, as this will restart the shutdown timer each time. The red power LED on the NAV computer will go out when the power down process is completed.
^ When the Satellite Navigation system has restarted and the main menu screen has returned (both on-road and off-road navigation options are available), perform the following:
a) Verify that the tailgate is open.
b) Switch off the ignition.
c) Remove the ignition key.
^ Allow approximately 60 seconds for the Satellite Navigation system computer to shut down and the red power LED to go out).

11. Re-insert the map CD into the Navigation computer.
12. At the main menu check that both on-road and off-road navigation options are available.
13. From the Main Menu perform the following:
