Headlamp Power Wash
Headlamp Power Wash
DESCRIPTION
Introduction
The headlamp power wash system is operational when the ignition is switched on and the lighting control switch is in the 'headlamp' position. A wash request is made by pressing the end of the RH steering column multifunction switch.
Headlamp power wash will only operate on the first wash request, and then after every fourth request. This counter is re-set if the ignition is turned off. If the vehicle is in off-road mode, power wash will operate on the first wash request, and then after mevery second request.
The headlamp power wash system will only operate once within any 10 minute period, irrespective of how many requests have been made. The timer will reset if the ignition is turned off.
OPERATION
Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 7E and fusible link 11E (C0632) on an R wire. Both are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB). Fusible link 7E provides a constant battery feed to the power wash relay, which is also located in the BJB.
Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 28P and fuse 61P of the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 61P (C0582) provides an ignition feed to the lighting control switch (C0041) on an NP wire. Fuse 28P (C0583) provides an ignition feed to the power wash relay (C0570) on an LG wire.
Lighting Control Switch
The lighting control switch (C0041) is provided an ignition feed by fuse 61P of the CJB (C0582) on an NP wire. When the lighting control switch is in the headlamp position, current flows across the switch (C0041) to the CJB (C0580) on a Y wire.
Power Wash Switch
The CJB (C0580) monitors the condition of the power wash switch (C0278) by providing a reference feed on an LG wire. When a wash request is made, the switch contacts close and a ground path is created on a B wire.
Power Wash Relay
The power wash relay coil (C0570) is provided an ignition feed by fuse 28P of the CJB (C0583) on an LG wire. The ground path for the relay coil (C0570) is controlled by the CJB (C0584) on a G wire. When all operating conditions exist, the CJB energises the relay which provides a feed (C0570) to the power wash pump (C0828) on an LGR wire. The pump C0828) is provided a ground path on a B wire.
