No.: LTB00022

Issue: 1

Date: May 24, 2007

SECTION: 303-14

Land Rover LR3 (LA) with 4.0L V6 VIN: 7A413982 to 7A421834

CONDITION SUMMARY:

SELECTION OF ALTERNATE TERRAIN MODE DOES NOT ALTER VEHICLE BEHAVIOR

PARTS:

No parts required

TOOLS:

IDS DVD 104 with and Patch File 4 or later

REPAIR PROCEDURE

UPDATE ECM WITH LATEST SOFTWARE

CAUTION:
A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis. The diagnostic lead must be correctly secured during the software update.

NOTE:
IDS with DVD 104 or later must be installed.

1. Connect the Midtronics PSC-550 power supply to the vehicle battery.

2. Connect IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session, by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

3. Note the current software levels of the engine control module as follows:

^ Follow the prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

^ When prompted "Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?" select "NO" and then press "tick" to continue.

^ When the Content Model is displayed, select the Vehicle Configuration tab.

^ Select Module Information

^ Select Network integrity test

^ Note the software part numbers displayed on the screen.

NOTE:
During module configuration, check the on-screen software part number information that IDS will display during this step and compare to the software part number noted in step 3 above. If the same tune level is displayed, the vehicle already has the desired software level and the tune download process can be aborted.

4. Configure the control module as follows:

^ Return to the Vehicle Configuration screen and select Module Configuration

^ Follow the on-screen prompts.

^ Select Configure Existing Modules".

^ From the sub-menu, select Engine Control Module

^ Check the tick-box to continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Repeat step 3 to confirm the software level change.

6. Exit the IDS session and disconnect the diagnostic equipment from the vehicle.
