Interior Mirror

Interior Mirror

DESCRIPTION

Introduction
The electrochromic auto dimming interior mirror dims to reduce glare from the headlights of following vehicles in dark or low light conditions. The auto dimming function is only enabled while the ignition switch is in position II, and can be selected on and off using the appropriate buttons located on the underside of the mirror.

At the beginning of each ignition cycle the auto dimming function defaults to on. The green status indicator is illuminated while the electrochromic function is on.

While the electrochromic function is on, a light sensor in the front of the mirror monitors ambient light at the front of the vehicle. A light sensor in the rear of the mirror monitors the light coming from behind the vehicle. When the light from behind the vehicle exceeds the ambient light level, the auto dimming circuits dim the interior mirror.

NOTE: Mirror dimming is suspended when reverse gear is selected.

OPERATION

Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 11E (C0632) on an R wire. Fusible link 11E is located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB) (C0570) and is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire.

When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 69P of the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 69P (C0586) provides an ignition feed to the interior mirror (C0698) on a GR wire. The mirror (C0698) is provided a ground path on a B wire.

Reverse Gear
When reverse gear is selected, the energised reverse lamp relay provides a feed to fuse 5P, which is also located in the CJB. Fuse 5P (C0585) provides a feed to the interior mirror (C0698) on a GN wire. When the interior mirror receives this feed it suspends the dimming function.
