"MIL" Illumination with P-Codes P0170/0173/2097/2099 or P0461 - Repair Procedure

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE (ECM ONLY)

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE (ECM & TCM)

CONDITION SUMMARY:

MIL ON WITH DTC P0170/0173/2097/2099 AND/OR P0461 STORED

Situation:

The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate. Upon investigation with IDS the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0170/P0173 and/or P0461 may be stored. (NOTE: For later engine calibrations the codes P2097/P2099 replace P0170/P0173.) Over-sensitive Engine Control Module (ECM) calibrations can result in P0170/P0173 (P2097/P2099) when the HO2 sensor heater turns off too early. Also the code P0461 may be stored if the ECM has observed a fuel sender accuracy issue. The P0461 code should not be a "MIL-on" requirement and that condition is adjusted with the latest software.

Action:

Should a customer express concern, re-configure the ECM. Depending on vehicle VIN also program the Transmission Control Module (TCM) using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). Follow the Repair Procedure instructions in this bulletin.
