Water Leak Into Footwell From Roof Opening Panel Drain Tube
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
Water may leak into the passenger compartment footwell. This may be caused by a roof opening panel drain tube coming apart, allowing water to drain into the vehicle.
NOTE:
Refer to Technical Bulletin LTB00034 (Range Rover Sport) or LTB00217 (LR3) for passenger compartment water ingress diagnosis information, including additional information for roof opening panel drain tube repairs.
Action:
In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to perform a drain tube flow test and repair as indicated.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
PERFORM DRAIN TUBE FLOW TEST
NOTE:

NOTE:
If water flows from all roof opening panel drain tubes, refer to Technical Bulletin LTBOOO34 (Range Rover Sport) or LTB00217 (LR3); to be carried out as a separate claim.
1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-25C ID, Body Repairs - Water Leaks, and perform a drain tube flow test.
If water is not flowing from rear drain tube(s), refer to Install New Drain Tube Connector-Rear below.
^ If water is not flowing from front drain tube(s), refer to Install New Drain Tube Connector - Front below.
^ If water is flowing from all roof opening panel drain tubes, refer to Technical Bulletin LTB00034 (Range Rover Sport) or LTB00217 (LR3); to be carried out as a separate claim.
INSTALL NEW DRAIN TUBE CONNECTOR - REAR - LR3
NOTE:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.13.34), and remove the affected side's (LH or RH) C-Pillar Upper Trim Panel.
2. Release the rear door weatherstrip for access.
3. Release the roof opening panel drain tube from the lower drain grommet. (Figure 1)
4. Remove the drain tube connector from the new drain tube (EEH500120) and discard the new drain tube.
5. Trim 25mm (1.0 in) from the end of the existing roof opening panel drain tube. (Figure 2)
6. Install the new drain tube connector into the existing roof opening panel drain tube.
7. Install the roof opening panel drain tube into the lower drain grommet.
8. Install the rear door weatherstrip.
9. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.13.34), and install the C-Pillar Upper Trim Panel.
INSTALL NEW DRAIN TUBE CONNECTOR - REAR - RANGE ROVER SPORT
NOTE:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.13.22), and remove the affected side's (LH or RH) Load Space Trim Panel.
2. Release the rear door weatherstrip for access.
3. Release the roof opening panel drain tube from the lower drain grommet. (Figure 3)
4. Remove the drain tube connector from the new drain tube (EEH500120) and discard the new drain tube.
5. Trim 25mm (1.0 in) from the end of the existing roof opening panel drain tube. (Figure 4)
6. Install the new drain tube connector into the existing roof opening panel drain tube.
7. Install the roof opening panel drain tube into the lower drain grommet.
8. Install the rear door weatherstrip.
9. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.13.22), and install the Load Space Trim Panel.
INSTALL NEW DRAIN TUBE CONNECTOR - FRONT - DRIVER-SIDE
NOTE:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.19.26), and remove the LH A-Pillar Trim Panel.
2. Release the roof opening drain tube from the lower drain grommet. (Figure 5)
3. Remove the drain tube connector from the new drain tube (EEH500120) and discard the new drain tube.
4. Trim 25mm (1.0 in) from the end of the existing roof opening panel drain tube. (Figure 6)
5. Install the new drain tube connector into the existing roof opening panel drain tube.
6. Install the roof opening panel drain tube into the lower drain grommet.
7. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-05, Interior Trim and Ornamentation (76.19.26), and remove the LH A-Pillar Trim Panel.
INSTALL NEW DRAIN TUBE CONNECTOR - FRONT - PASSENGER-SIDE
NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 418-00, Module Communications Network (86.70.56), and remove the Central Junction Box (CJB).
2. Remove the CJB bracket: (Figure 7) Remove the four bolts.
3. Release the roof opening drain tube from the lower drain grommet. (Figure 5)
4. Remove the drain tube connector from the new drain tube (EEH500120) and discard the new drain tube.
5. Trim 25mm (1.0 in) from the end of the existing roof opening panel drain tube. (Figure 8)
6. Install the new drain tube connector into the existing roof opening panel drain tube.
7. Install the roof opening panel drain tube into the lower drain grommet.
8. Install the CJB bracket.
9. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 418-00, Module Communications Network (86.70.56), and install the CJB.
