OPERATION
Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fuse 30E, fusible link 11E, and fusible link 18E (C0632) on an R wire. All are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB). Fuse 30E (C0570) provides a constant battery feed to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (C0193) on a PY wire.
Fusible link 18E (C0570) is connected to fuse 43P of the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0583) by an NS wire. Fuse 43P (C0582) provides a constant battery feed to the selector mechanism (C2658) on a PU wire.
Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the 'auxiliary' position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 33P of the CJB (C0582) on a W wire. Fuse 33P (C0585) provides an auxiliary ignition feed to the selector mechanism (C2658) on a GK wire. When the ignition switch is in the 'ignition' position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 64P of the CJB (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 64P (C0584) provides an ignition feed to the TCM (C0193) on an LGO wire. The TCM is provided a ground path on a pair of B wires.
Selector Mechanism
NOTE: Selector position changes between P (Park) R (Reverse), N (Neutral) and D (Drive) are communicated between the selector mechanism and the TCM via a Bowden cable.
CommandShift (TM)
The TCM (C0193) provides a feed to the selector mechanism (C2658) on a BG wire. If the selector lever is moved across the gate to the Sport/Manual position, a magnate located in the selector lever is moved within proximity of the M/S hall effect sensor. This has the effect of creating a momentary change in potential difference, which is registered by the TCM. A ground path is provided for the hall effect sensor on a B wire.
The TCM (C0193) also provides feeds to the selector mechanism (C2658) on a Y wire and an N wire. If the selector lever is moved to the + position, the magnet located on the selector lever is moved within proximity of the + hall effect sensor. This has the effect of creating a momentary change in potential difference, which is registered by the TCM on the Y wire. A ground path is provided for the hall effect sensor on a B wire.
If the selector lever is moved to the - position, the magnet located on the selector lever is moved within proximity of the - hall effect sensor. This has the effect of creating a momentary change in potential difference, which is registered by the TCM on the N wire. A ground path is provided for the hall effect sensor on a B wire.
LED Displays
The selector mechanism contains two LED displays. The P, R, N and D symbols are shown on the RH display. The + and - 'CommandShift (TM)' symbols are shown on LH display.
The selector mechanism (C2658) is connected to the LED displays by a series of R wires as follows:
^ If P is selected, a feed is provided on pin 11 to pin 1 of the RH display (C2656).
^ If R is selected, a feed is provided on pin 12 to pin 2 of the RH display (C2656).
^ If N is selected, a feed is provided on pin 13 to pin 3 of the RH display (C2656).
^ If D is selected, a feed is provided on pin 14 to pin 4 of the RH display (C2656).
^ If Sport/Manual is selected, a feed is provided on pin 15 to pin 2 of the LH display (C2657).
Both the RH (C2656) and the LH (C2657) LED displays are provided ground paths on B wires.
The selector mechanism (C2658 pin 16) also provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to the LH display (C2657 pin 1) and the RH display (C2656 pin 5) on an R wire. This feed is used for display back lighting.
Shift Interlock
The shift interlock solenoid locks the selector lever assembly in the P or N position if a number of conditions are met.
To energise the solenoid, the TCM (C0193) provides a feed to the selector mechanism (C2658) on an R wire. A ground path is provided for the solenoid via the TCM on a Y wire.
The selector mechanism (C2658) provides the TCM (C0193) a lock confirmation signal on a G wire.
Instrument Cluster
The instrument cluster displays transmission status to the driver. This information is supplied to the instrument cluster (C0230) by the TCM (C0193) via the high speed CAN bus on YN (high) and YB (low) wires.
