Poor Starting/Stumble on Start-up - Repair Procedure

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
LR2 (LF) VIN: 8H000212 - 8H051069
Model Year: 2008

CONDITION SUMMARY:

ENGINE HARD TO START/STUMBLES ON START-UP

Situation:

The engine may be intermittently hard to start or may stumble slightly after starting. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate. Upon investigation with IDS, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P0087, P0089, P0171, P0174 or P0628 may be stored.

NOTE:
Performing this Repair Procedure on VINs between 8H000212 - 8H051069 will also correct the concern addressed in Service Bulletin LTB00093.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above issue, follow the Repair Procedure outlined below.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

RECONFIGURE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTROL MODULE AND SOLAR SENSOR

CAUTION:
Land Rover IDS DVD 109 Patch File 4 and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply are required.

CAUTION:
Only select the Body Control Module, Instrument Cluster Control Module and Solar Sensor Configuration when performing this Technical Bulletin.

1. Connect the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle.

2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

3. Select from the pop-up 'Freelander 2 [LR2]'.

4. Press 'tick' to continue.

5. Select the correct engine derivative from the 'Vehicle Variant Menu'.

6. Press 'tick' to continue.

7. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

8. When prompted Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes? select 'NO'.

9. Press 'tick' to continue.

10. Select Vehicle Configuration tab when the 'Content Model' is displayed.

11. Select Module programming from the 'Vehicle configuration menu'.

12. Select 'Configure existing modules'.

13. Select 'Software enhancement program'.

14. Select 'Body control module' from the drop-down menu.

15. Press 'tick' to continue.

16. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

17. Select 'Module programming' from the 'Vehicle configuration menu'.

18. Select 'Configure existing modules'.

19. Select Software enhancement program.

20. Select 'Instrument cluster control module' from the drop down menu.

21. Press 'tick' to continue.

22. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

23. Select Module programming from the 'Vehicle configuration menu'.

24. Select 'Configure existing modules'.

25. Select 'Software enhancement program'.

26. Select Solar sensor configuration from the enhancement program dropdown menu.

27. Press 'tick' to continue.

28. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete the task.

29. When the task is completed, exit the current session.

30. Disconnect IDS and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply.
