In-Car Cellular Telephone/Bluetooth Issues - Repair Procedure

CONDITION SUMMARY:

IN-CAR CELLULAR TELEPHONE/BLUETOOTH ISSUES

Situation:

A customer may experience one or more of the following concerns:

^ Inability to pair cellular telephone using in-car Bluetooth search function. This symptom is often experienced when trying to pair "Smart" phones, such as Blackberry models.

^ Call history is reversed.

^ Existing paired devices are removed from the device list displayed.

^ Audio drops out every 14 seconds and loss of phone functionality.

Action:

If a customer expresses concern of any of the above issues, follow the Repair Procedure outlined below. After performing this software update, the cellular telephone pairing process will be enhanced to overcome many of the pairing concerns as well as the other issues described. An Owners Handbook supplement describing a revised pairing process has been developed and will be sent to retailers in the near future. Retailer personnel should familiarize themselves with this revised process. In the meantime, a copy of this supplement is shown in this bulletin. Please provide a printed copy to each customer whose vehicle has had this software enhancement. The latest Bluetooth and cellular telephone information can be found on Infotrail.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

RECONFIGURE THE CELLULAR TELEPHONE CONTROL MODULE

CAUTION:
Land Rover IDS DVD109 Patch File 3 and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply are required.

1. Connect the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle.

2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.

3. Select 'Freelander 2 [LR2]' from the pop-up.

4. Press 'tick' to continue.

5. Select the correct engine derivative from the 'Vehicle Variant Menu'.

6. Press 'tick' to continue.

7. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.

8. When prompted 'Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?' select 'NO'.

9. Press 'tick' to continue.

10. Select 'Vehicle Configuration tab' when the Content Model is displayed.

11. Select Module Programming from the 'Vehicle Configuration menu'.

12. Select 'Configure existing modules'.

13. Select 'Cellular telephone control module' from the drop-down menu.

14. Press 'tick' to continue.





15.*When "BPM" Network integrity test results file displays locate "0xf188 vm_ecu_sw_pn" and record the "value" on the repair order. (Figure 1)*





16. Select the value recorded on the repair order when the pop-up screen appears. (Figure 2)

^ *If the value recorded is "6G9N-14C554-AJ", select "6G9N-14C554-AL".*

^ *If the value is not displayed please abort the process and contact the Land Rover Technical Helpline Option 3.*

17. Press OK to continue.

18. Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.

19. When completed, exit the current session.

20. Disconnect the IDS and Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Battery Supply.
