SECTION: 204-02
Rear Suspension Noise
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
LR2 (LF) VIN: 8H000212 - 8H045063
Model Year: 2008
CONDITION SUMMARY:
CREAK/CLICKING NOISE FROM REAR OF THE VEHICLE
NOTE:
The noise being described is NOT a rattling noise.
Situation:
A customer may complain of a creak or clicking noise coming from the rear strut area on the left or right side of the vehicle. The noise will be most evident when traveling under 20 mph (32 km/h) turning left or right under sharp acceleration and/or braking. It may also be evident in the worst cases when traveling under 20 mph (32 km/h) over bumps in a straight line. The rear road spring upper coil can slip laterally on the rubber isolator causing it to rub against the isolator/wedge. When the isolator is sufficiently worn, the spring contacts the plastic wedge causing the noise.
Action:
If a customer expresses concern about the symptom outlined above, install new rear spring rubber isolators and plastic wedges. Follow the Repair Procedure outlined in this bulletin.
