'Chirp' or 'Squeal' Noise from Rear Brakes While Slowly Moving Forward and Lightly Braking - Repair Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
With the brakes at normal operating temperature, a high-pitched 'chirp' noise may be heard once per wheel revolution while slowly driving forward and lightly applying the brakes. This noise may be due to the rear brake pads.
Action:
In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure below to replace the rear brake pads.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS
NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > Model > Service Information > Model Year > Workshop Manual > 2: Chassis > 206: Brake System > 206-04: Rear Disc Brake
1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 206-04: Rear Disc Brake (70.40.03) to remove the rear brake pads.
CAUTION:
The adhesive strips covering the outboard pads must be removed prior to installation.
2. Remove the adhesive strips from the outboard pads. (Figure 1)
NOTE:
Ensure the outboard pad sticky shim can be seen when installed in the caliper.
3. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 206-04: Rear Disc Brake (70.40.03) to install the rear brake pads.
