Battery Vent Tube Blockage - New Design / Repair Procedure





AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

An issue has been identified where the vehicle battery may leak fluid. The leak may be caused by the battery vent tube being incorrectly routed, causing it to be blocked.

NOTE:
Unless previously fitted, an updated, corrugated battery vent tube should be installed during the replacement of a vehicle battery.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above and the vehicle is fitted with a non-corrugated battery vent tube, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to install an updated, corrugated battery vent tube.

WARRANTY

REPLACE BATTERY VENT TUBE

NOTE:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 414-01 to remove the vehicle battery.

2. Remove and discard the existing battery vent tube.

NOTE:
Ensure the battery vent tube is clipped to the inboard side of the fuse box.





3. Measure 75 mm (3 in) from the straight end of the battery vent tube; insert battery vent tube through the body grommet. (Figure 1)





4. Secure the battery vent tube to the three clips in the fuse box. (Figures 2, 3, & 4)

5. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 414-01 to install the vehicle battery.





NOTE:
Ensure the battery vent tube is located outboard of the battery cable. (Figure 5)

6. Secure the battery vent tube to the battery. (Figure 5)
