Glass Roof Panel Blind Difficult to Latch - Repair Procedure

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Model Year: 2005 - Onwards

CONDITION SUMMARY:

GLASS ROOF PANEL BLIND DIFFICULT TO LATCH

Situation:

LR3 customers may experience a glass roof panel blind that is difficult to latch.

Action:

Should a customer have the above concern, follow the inspection and repair procedure outlined below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSPECTING THE GLASS ROOF PANEL OPENINGS





1. Open the second row glass roof panel blind. Visually inspect the rubber spacers between the headliner and the glass of the second row (Check mark in Figure 1) to verify the spacer is touching the glass.





NOTE:
Gapping will show when the dome lamp has not been installed correctly. (Figure 3)





2. Verify the dome lamp is installed correctly with no gaps between lamp and headliner. (Figure 2)

3. If the lamp is not fully clipped into the roof, apply pressure as indicated by the arrow. (Figure 3)

4. Verify the two white clips at the front and rear of the roof opening panel headliner are fully clipped into the body.





5. If clips are not fully installed, apply pressure in direction of arrow. (Figure 4)

6. Carry out steps 4 and 5 of the inspection process on the third row/rear load space blind.

REPLACING BLIND FELT PAD





1. Slide blind forward. (Figure 5)

CAUTION:
Only pull the blind down a minimum amount, so that the old felt pad can be peeled off.





2. Pull the front-center of the blind down slightly. (Figure 6)





3. Remove the felt pad from the blind. (Figure 7)

NOTE:
All residue must be cleaned off of the blind for the new foam block to adhere correctly.

4. Clean off any residue left on the blind.





5. Install the new foam block (EFM500020) to the rear of the blind in the same location as the removed felt pad. (Figure 8)





6. Verify the latching operation of the blind. (Figure 9)

7. Carry out steps 1 through 6 on the unrepaired blind.
