High-Tone Horn Sound Change - Repair Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE
CONDITION SUMMARY:
HORN TONE CHANGED BY WATER INGRESS
Situation:
The horn tone has changed as the result of water ingress through the horn trumpet opening.
Action:
Should a customer express concern, install a new high-tone horn. Follow the model-specific Repair Procedures outlined in this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
HORN REPLACEMENT: RANGE ROVER SPORT
NOTE:
The horns should not automatically be replaced as a pair (i.e. high-tone and low-tone).
1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 414-01 and disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-18 (76.55.03) and remove the front radiator grill.
NOTE:
Removing the horn from its bracket will require bending the horn and bracket downwards to gain access to the 10 mm nut.
3. Remove faulty horn from vehicle bracket noting the mounting orientation.
4. Remove and discard bracket provided with new horn.
5. Install new horn to vehicle bracket ensuring same orientation as the removed unit.
6. Bend horn and bracket upwards to regain original horn position.
CAUTION:
The newly installed horn must not interfere with or contact surrounding components.
7. Ensure there are no foul conditions between the horn and surrounding components.
8. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 404-01 and connect the battery ground cable.
9. Check sound quality of the horn.
10. Reposition horn if necessary.
11. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-18 (76.55.03) and install front radiator grill.
HORN REPLACEMENT: LR3
NOTE:

2. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-18 (76.55.03) and remove the front radiator grill.
NOTE:

5. Install new horn to the vehicle bracket in the orientation as shown. (Figure 1).
6. Bend horn and bracket upwards to regain original horn position.
