Heated Washer Jets

Heated Washer Jets

DESCRIPTION

Introduction
Operation of the heated washer jets is controlled by the Automatic Temperature Control Module (ATCM) in conjunction with the Central Junction Box (CJB). The heated washer jets will operate when the end of the LH steering column multi-function switch is pressed. This invokes the programmed wash/wipe function. The programmed wash/wipe function powers the heated washer jets for as long as the button is pressed. After an initial delay (approximately 500 ms) the windshield wipers operate. The windshield wipers operate until the switch is released, plus two further cycles.

OPERATION

Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 11E, fusible link 17E, and the heated washer jets relay (C0632) on an R wire. All are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB).

Fusible link 17E (C0570) is connected to fuse 51P of the CJB (C0583) by an NR wire. Fuse 51P (C0582) provides a constant battery feed to the ATCM (C2655) on a GP wire. The ATCM (C2655) is provided a ground path on a B wire.

Fusible link 11E (C0570) is connected to the ignition switch (C0028) by an N wire. When the ignition switch is in the ignition position, current flows across the switch (C0028) to fuse 28P of the CJB (C0582) on a Y wire. Fuse 28P (C0583) provides an ignition feed to the heated washer jet relay coil (C0570) on an LG wire.

LH Steering Column Multi-function Switch
When the end of the LH steering column multi-function switch is pressed, a ground path is created on a B wire. The CJB (C0580) monitors the state of the switch by providing a reference feed to the switch (C0278) on an LGG wire. When the CJB (C0580) registers the switch has been pressed, it outputs a programmed wash/wipe request to the ATCM (C1629) via the medium speed CAN bus on YU (high) and YW (low) wires.

Heated Washer Jet Relay
Operation of the heated washer jet relay (C0570) is controlled by the ATCM (C1629) on an NO wire. When energised, the heated washer jet relay provides a feed to fuse 12E, which is also located in the BJB. Fuse 12E (C0570) provides a feed to the LH (C0934) and RH (C0946) heated washer jets on a pair of NY wires. Both heated washer jets are provided ground paths on B wires.
