B-Pillar Trim Panel
Removal
WARNING:
^ Persons working on the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be fully trained and have been issued with the safety guidelines.
^ It is imperative that before any work is undertaken on the SRS system, the appropriate information is read thoroughly.
^ The correct procedures must always be used when working on SRS components.
^ Always disconnect both battery cables before beginning work on the SRS system. Disconnect the ground cable first. Never reverse connect the battery.
^ Allow a period of 10 minutes to elapse after disconnecting the battery before undertaking any work on the SRS.
^ The SRS electrical connectors are unique. DO NOT force, or attempt to connect electrical connectors to the wrong sockets.
^ Do not probe supplemental restraint system (SRS) electrical connectors.
^ Take extra care when handling SRS components.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Make the air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) safe.
3. Remove the front seat.
4. Release the front and rear door aperture weatherstrips.
5. Release the 4 clips from the B-pillar lower trim panel.
6. Remove the B-pillar trim panel
^ Release the 4 clips from the B-pillar upper trim panel.
7. NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Release the B-pillar upper finisher trim panel from the B-pillar lower finisher trim panel.
^ Remove and discard the 4 clips.
Installation
1. Secure the B-pillar upper finisher trim panel to the B-pillar lower finisher trim panel.
^ Install the 4 new clips.
2. CAUTION: Make sure the safety belt is secure and correctly installed.
Install the B-pillar trim panel.
^ Secure the 4 clips to the B-pillar upper trim panel.
3. CAUTION: Make sure the safety belt is secure and correctly installed.
Secure the 4 clips to the B-pillar lower trim panel.
4. Secure the front and rear door aperture weatherstrips.
5. Install the front seat.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
