Fuel Gauge Sender: Service and Repair



Fuel Pump Module

Removal

NOTE: The fuel pump module consists of the fuel pump and fuel gauge sender units that cannot be serviced separately.

1. Drain the fuel tank.
2. Remove the RH fuel tank access cover.
^ Remove the 4 nuts.







3. Position a container to collect the fluid spillage.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing components, ensure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open connections to prevent contamination.

4. Release the fuel filter.
^ Using the special tool, remove the fuel tank module locking ring.
^ Disconnect the fuel supply line.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.

5. Remove the fuel filter.
^ Disconnect the 3 fuel lines.
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Remove and discard the seal.







6. Remove the fuel pump module.
^ Depress the clips and release the lower part of the pump and sender unit rearward.
^ Withdraw from the fuel tank.







7. Remove the container.

Installation
1. Install the fuel pump module.
^ Secure in the clips.







2. Install the fuel filter.
^ Install a new seal.
^ Connect the fuel lines.
^ Connect the electrical connector.

3. Secure the fuel filter.
^ Connect the electrical connector.
^ Connect the fuel supply line.
^ Using the special tool, install the fuel tank module locking ring and tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the RH fuel tank access cover.
^ Tighten the 4 nuts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).

5. Refill the fuel tank.
