Tie Rod End
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1 Raise and support the vehicle.
2 Remove the front wheel.

3 Loosen the tie-rod end lock nut.
CAUTION: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.
4 Release the tie-rod end ball joint from the wheel knuckle.
Special Service Tool
Splitter, Ball Joints, 205-754
CAUTION: Note the number of turns when removing the tie rod end to aid installation.
5 Remove the tie-rod end.
Installation
CAUTION: Make sure that the tie rod end is installed with the same number of turns as when removed.
1 Install the tie-rod end.
WARNING: Make sure that a new tie-rod end nut is installed.
CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
CAUTION: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.
2 Connect the tie-rod end ball joint.
Torque to: 70 Nm
CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
3 Tighten the tie-rod locking nut.
Torque to: 55 Nm
4 Install the front wheel.

5 Using only four wheel alignment equipment approved by Land Rover, check and adjust the wheel alignment.
