Front Suspension





Lower Arm
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
1 Remove the plenum chamber panel.

2 Release the hood support struts and secure the hood in an upright position.

WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
3 Raise and support the vehicle.
4 Remove the wheel and tire.

NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
5 Compress the spring and damper assembly.
Special Service Tool




G-Clamp, 204-619




6 Remove and discard the front halfshaft bolt.




7 Partially release the front halfshaft from the wheel knuckle.

Remover, Halfshaft, 205-857





CAUTION: Do not allow halfshafts to hang unsupported at one end or joint damage will occur.
8 Partially release the front halfshaft from the wheel knuckle.





WARNING: Make sure that a new lower arm ball joint nut is installed.

CAUTION: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.





Special Service Tool




Separator, Ball Joint, 211-316




9 Remove and discard the lower arm bolts.

Installation






NOTE:
Make sure that new nuts and bolts are installed.
Install the lower suspension arm.
Tighten bolt 1.
Step 1: 140 Nm

Step 2: 45 degree
Tighten bolt 2 to
Torque to: 175 Nm
Tighten bolt 3 to
Torque to: 175 Nm





WARNING: Make sure that a new lower arm ball joint nut is installed.

CAUTION: Make sure that the ball joint ball does not rotate.

Torque to: 100 Nm

CAUTION: Do not allow halfshafts to hang unsupported at one end or joint damage will occur.
1 Fully insert the front halfshaft into the wheel knuckle.

NOTE:
This step requires the aid of another technician.
2 Release the tension from the spring and damper assembly and remove the special tool.





CAUTION: Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted and is correctly located.
3 Install a new front halfshaft bolt.
Step 1: 45 Nm

Step 2: 80 degree
4 Install the wheel and tire.

5 Lower the hood and secure the support struts with the clips.
6 Install the plenum chamber panel.
