CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

An audible boom may be heard or vibration may be felt through the floor pan or front seat at 2,400 - 2,800 rpm during medium to heavy acceleration (not during cruise or light load situations).

NOTE:
The issue is best confirmed by using Commandshift(R) manual mode and accelerating through the affected rpm range

Cause:

This may be caused by powertrain torsion mode where the transfer box is effectively twisting on the rear of the transmission.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below.

WARRANTY:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Raise and support the vehicle (see Workshop Manual section 100-02).





2. Install the damper and bolt to the vacant threaded hole in the transfer case.

^ Tighten the bolt to 75 Nm (55.5 lbf ft).

3. Lower vehicle.
