Adaptive Dynamics Front Damper Wires Damaged

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
Range Rover (LM) VIN: AA304426 - Onwards
Model Year: 2010 - Onwards

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:

The "Adaptive Dynamics Fault" message may be displayed in the message center with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) C1024-00, C110C-14, C110D-14, and C110D-19 stored in the Adaptive Damping control module. This may be due to damaged wires at the Adaptive Dynamics front damper(s) caused by rotation of the front dampers during normal driving.

Action:

In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to repair the wiring at the affected Adaptive Dynamics front damper(s).

IDS with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply. Refer to Workshop Manual for any required special tools.

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSTALL ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS FRONT DAMPER LINK HARNESS

CAUTION
Take care when removing the cover; failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the harness.

NOTE:
Note the fitted position of the cover and the grommet before removal.





1. Remove the affected Adapted Dynamics front damper top cover: (Figure 1)

^ Remove the two (2) Torx bolts.

^ Release the grommet.

NOTE:
Note the orientation of the electrical connector during removal.





2. Release the wiring harness: (Figure 2)

^ Carefully release the electrical connector.

^ Release the fir tree clip.

CAUTION
Make sure the electrical connector is correctly aligned before securing in place; failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.





3. Install the new wiring link harness: (Figure 3)

^ Connect the electrical connector.

^ Secure the fir tree clip.

CAUTION
Make sure that there is a sufficient length of existing wiring harness to make the connection to the new wiring harness.





4. Using a suitable tool, remove the damaged section of the wiring harness. (Figure 4)

5. Using the Land Rover-approved harness repair kit, join the new wiring harness to the existing harness:

^ Make sure that the wiring harness is protected with locally-sourced suitable insulation tape.

CAUTION
Make sure that the wiring harness is not damaged during the installation of the suspension cover.

CAUTION
Make sure that the dowels are correctly aligned.

6. Install the Adapted Dynamics front damper top cover:

^ Carefully align the grommet.

^ Tighten the two (2) Torx bolts to 9 Nm.

7. Repeat steps 1 - 6, if necessary, to the opposite-side Adaptive Dynamics front damper.
