Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. w/ Differential lock:
a. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
b. Keep the center differential lock condition.
c. Turn the differential lock control switch to the RR or FR/RR position and lock the rear differential.

HINT: Spin the tires, check they are in the differential lock condition. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

2. Drain differential oil.
3. Remove rear axle shafts.
4. Disconnect propeller shaft.





5. w/ Differential lock: Remove actuator protector. Remove the 2 nuts, bolt and protector.

Torque:
Nut: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
Bolt: 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)

6. w/ Differential lock: Disconnect connectors and hose.





7. Remove differential carrier assembly. Remove the 10 nuts, washers and differential carrier assembly.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the installation surface.

HINT: w/ differential lock: after removal, shift the rear differential to lock.

Installation Hint: Torque: 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.) Remove the gasket.

INSTALLATION
^ Installation is in the reverse order of removal, being sure to fill the differential with gear oil.
