Introduction
The LX 470 running board is installed on 100% of the vehicles at the vehicle distribution center (VDC). Attached are the installation instructions for the LX 470 running board. These instructions will make dealers aware of proper installation techniques when installing the following replacement parts:

Replacement of Running Board Platform.

Replacement of Step Pad.

Replacement of Endcaps.

'98-'00 Model Year Color Applicability

The running boards and service parts are color keyed to the vehicle cladding color.

Platform Replacement Procedure

Remove Current Running Board.





1. Remove front end-cap screw using a 10 mm socket. (Figure 1)





2. Remove lower bracket nuts from the front (2 places) and rear brackets (1 place) using an 11 mm socket. (Figure 2)








3. Loosen the lower bracket nuts from the two middle brackets (4 places) using an 11 mm socket. (Figures 3 and 4)








4. Remove the front bracket using a 13 mm socket (2 places). (Figure 5) On the passenger side, the air conditioning line shroud must be removed first, using a 10 mm socket. (Figure 6)








5. Remove the rear bracket using a 13 mm socket. Only the lower of the two bolts needs to be removed. (Figures 7 and 8)








6. Remove the two middle brackets, bolts, and nuts from the vehicle using a 13 mm socket. Allow the brackets to support the board by the top vehicle weld nut studs. (Figures 9 and 10)

7. Slide the platform outboard (hold the two brackets firmly) and remove the bracket (with the board) from the vehicle's weld studs.

Installation Procedure

Installation & Alignment Procedure.





1. Install the two middle brackets on the platform, hand tighten the nuts. (Figure 11)

2. Hang running board assembly on the vehicle by the top middle bracket holes to the two studs protruding through the inner rocker panel. Install Two M8-1.25 nuts and two M8-1.25 bolts on the studs and weld nuts respectively, hand tighten.

3. Slide rear bracket (stamped "rear" on flange) over existing bolt (top). The bottom of the bracket goes over the single T-bolt at rear of board. Install an 11 mm head nut and hand tighten.

4. Ensure no interference and install a M8-1.25 bolt through the bracket and into the weld nut. Hand lighten.

5. Attach the front bracket (stamped "front" on flange) to the front crossmember using the weld nuts, and two M8-1.25 bolts provided. (Install lower bolt first.)

6. Install front bracket over the two T-bolts protruding from the aluminum substructure using 11 mm head nuts. Hand tighten.

Running Board Adjustment.

1. Adjust the entire running board assembly to allow the front facia flaps' inner surface to rest on the front cladding's fastener mounting surface.

2. Hand start the 10 mm self-tapping mudflap screw through the front running board facia.

3. Align the running board to blend with the cladding.

4. Torque all 8 mm hardware with a 13 mm socket to 12 ft.lbs. (Brackets to vehicle.)

5. Torque all hardware using an 11 mm socket to 9 ft.lbs. (Brackets to running board.)

6. Install A/C shroud on right side of vehicle.
